The new GOM rules for reef fish
For those of you who have never used circle hooks before, here is a little bit of advice. Don’t try to set the hook, just reel with the rod pointing down until the line is tight. Snell your hooks, bringing the line in through the eye on the same side of the hook that the point is on. When using big baits or live baits, briddle them, don’t put the bait on the hook like you would with a J hook. You take up too much space in the gap and that can prevent the hook from working properly, when you briddle the bait, snell the hook properly and don’t try to set the hook, you will experience the best hook up rate you have ever had, even when you were using J hooks. Good luck and tight lines.
