« Happy New Year | Home | the banboo rod »
as the darkness fell i had a run of these - for about an hour they were pretty steady, not huge but a bit of life-

then i had a good take on one of the rods, and struck into…..nothing -missed it.
Ten minutes later the other rod went off, and after a relatively weak fight, i gilled this out- stuffed with crabs :yahoo:

should have been about 12 pounds but went 14lb 4 oz - sorry for the poor pics but i was fishing alone so had to use the self timer, and by the time i was getting the hang of it the fish needed to be returned -it was real fat one - a belly i would be proud of.http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2047/…85b2858a_o.jpg
memo to self - switch the headlamp off next time!!
had to hold it in the water for a while before it swam away - but it went off strongly in the end.:victory:
not much else after that -a coalie or two and a couple of these

i decided to fish on, but after 1930 it just died - the crabs stopped feeding and so did the fish - i thought it was cracking weather - very calm and mild, but the car was frozen when i got back to it so probably colder than i thought :cold:. Succesful method was a two hook flapper with mackie and squid cocktails on 1/0 SW Champions. Brilliant end to a fantastic december for me - four double figure cod, and a brilliant casting meet too! - i hope 2008 is half as good.
Happy New Year
