Budget West Africa saltwater gear
Hi, I’m heading to Dakar, Senegal, West Africa (too soon!) for extended stay and need to buy/transport gear. On a Budget! I’m fairly new to this, so any info/suggestions appreciated.
Lots of shore/surf/ rock fishing, some coastal travel, and taking local wood boats for trolling, jigging nearshore , reefs and mangroves. Species? grouper, white tuna (3-15lb), trevally, kingfish (wahoo?), mackerel, barracuda, snappers, cassava, captainfish (dorado?tarpon?).
My initial take: Want best for $ in action/durability. Will need to pack/travel, so looking at A) travel rods in suitcase or B) rods under 6.6 sections as extra baggage (&$).
A)Travel rod considering: cabelas salt/spin (17-40), (Har Lee-Tsunami? Collapsible?); coupled w/ spinreel- cabella saltstriker SS70 (9 bb) or Penn 650SSM, and????(boat/troll)
B) Spin- I like action of Shimano Trevala TVS (20/50) but wont fit (7 single), and Ugly Stick Tiger 20/50 for troll, deep jig (tough but good action), coupled with an all around trolling/casting reel (Daiwa Sealine?)
Any help on what/where/how will help..already over budget, but want the best experience
